The Hair & Scalp Repair Oil I Made
When My Hair Was Falling Out in Clumps
There was a season when I watched my hair fall out by the handful.
My scalp was inflamed, reactive, and completely unpredictable. I tried everything — product after product, treatment after treatment — and nothing worked. Not because those products were cheap. Because they weren't designed to actually fix anything.
Here's the truth most brands don't want you to know: the majority of hair care products are designed to coat the hair shaft and create the appearance of health. They are not designed to correct the underlying environment your hair grows from.
So I went back to what I know best — biochemistry and plant medicine.
I stopped asking what makes hair look good and started asking a completely different question:
What does the scalp need at a cellular level to grow strong, healthy hair?
That shift changed everything.
Why Hair Growth Starts at the Scalp
Hair is not separate from your body. It is a direct extension of your internal environment — and the condition of your scalp tells the whole story.
When the scalp is inflamed, congested, under-circulated, or nutrient-deficient, the follicle simply cannot produce strong hair. It doesn't matter how expensive your shampoo is.
Healthy hair requires five things:
Oxygen — delivered through adequate circulation to the follicle
Nutrients — minerals, amino acids, and phytonutrients that feed hair fiber production
A balanced microbiome — free from bacterial and fungal overgrowth
Low inflammation — a calm, regulated scalp environment
A strong lipid barrier — to protect moisture and prevent breakage
This oil was formulated to address all five.
Not as a surface treatment — as a true cellular repair protocol.
The Biochemistry Behind This Formula
This isn't random herb mixing. Every single ingredient has a specific, research-backed role in scalp physiology. Here's exactly what each one is doing:
Circulation & Follicle Activation Clove, rosemary, peppermint, and cinnamon are all proven vasodilators — they increase blood flow to the scalp, delivering oxygen and nutrients directly to the follicle. This is how you shift dormant follicles back into the anagen (active growth) phase.
Anti-Inflammatory & Antimicrobial Support Neem, turmeric, lavender, chamomile, and aloe vera work together to reduce inflammatory cytokines, calm scalp irritation, and control microbial imbalance — the root cause of dandruff, buildup, and chronic scalp conditions.
Hair Fiber Strength & Nutrient Density Fenugreek, nettle, curry leaves, and hibiscus are rich in silica, iron, amino acids, and phytonutrients that directly support keratin production and strengthen the hair shaft from the inside out.
Barrier Repair & Deep Hydration Castor oil, olive oil, and argan oil provide the essential fatty acids needed to restore the scalp's protective barrier, seal in moisture, and dramatically reduce breakage.
Hair & Scalp Oil From The Apothecary
This is what it looks like to move from surface-level care to true repair.
DIY Hair & Scalp Repair Oil
Base Oils — ½ cup castor oil — ½ cup olive oil — 2 tbsp argan oil
Dried Herbs — 1 tbsp cloves — 1 tbsp rosemary — 1 tbsp fenugreek seeds — 1 tbsp dried curry leaves — 1 tbsp dried nettle leaf — 1 tbsp dried hibiscus — 1 tsp neem — 1 tsp turmeric — 1 tbsp chamomile — 1 tbsp lavender — 1 cinnamon stick (or 1 tsp powder)
Optional Fresh Additions — 2 tbsp fresh aloe vera (fully dried before infusing, or added after straining as an oil-soluble extract)
Optional Essential Oils (added after infusion, not during) — 10 drops peppermint essential oil
How to Make It
Method 1: Slow Solar Infusion (Most Potent)
Add all dried herbs to a clean, completely dry glass jar. Pour in your oils until the herbs are fully submerged. Seal tightly and place in a warm, sunny spot — a windowsill works beautifully. Let infuse for 2–4 weeks, gently shaking the jar every 1–2 days.
When ready, strain through cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer and transfer to a dark glass bottle for storage.
This method preserves the most delicate plant compounds and creates the deepest synergy between ingredients. It's worth the wait.
Method 2: Double Boiler (Faster Option)
Add your oils and herbs together in a heat-safe glass jar. Place the jar inside a pot of water on the stove — double boiler style. Heat on the lowest setting for 2–3 hours. Do not let it boil. Allow to cool completely before straining and storing.
This method is ideal if you want results without the waiting period.
How to Use It
Apply the oil directly to your scalp 1–3 times per week. Massage gently for 3–5 minutes using circular motions to stimulate circulation and activate the follicles. Leave on for a minimum of 30 minutes — or apply before bed and let it work overnight. Wash thoroughly and repeat consistently.
You can also work a small amount through your ends to reduce breakage and restore shine.
What to Expect
Weeks 1–2: Reduced dryness and irritation. Your scalp will start to feel calmer, more balanced, and less reactive.
Weeks 3–4: Noticeably less shedding. Improved texture and softness throughout the hair.
Months 1–3: Visible new growth. Fuller, stronger hair. A fundamentally healthier scalp environment.
Consistency is what creates transformation. This is not a one-time treatment — it's a practice.
A Note From Me
You can absolutely make this at home — and I will always show you how. That is a core part of who I am and what WildSynergy stands for.
But I also want to be honest with you: sourcing truly high-quality herbs, infusing them with care and precision, and building a formula with real therapeutic potency takes time, knowledge, and intention.
If you'd rather reach for a version that's already been crafted — using wild-harvested herbs from regenerative farms and formulated with that same clinical intention — you know where to find it.
Both paths lead somewhere powerful. I'll support you on either one.
Naturally.
With Love and Healing, Hannah
